### Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Overview
As a field expert in international development and sustainability, I am often asked about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. The SDGs were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This agenda is a plan of action for people, planet, and prosperity, seeking to strengthen universal peace in the twenty-first century.
The SDGs are integrated and interdependent, meaning that success in one area often leads to success in others. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with improving health and education, reducing inequality, and spurring economic growth that is sustainable. All SDGs and targets are integrated to be a part of the new sustainable development agenda.
