Connect to iTunes

* Step 1: **Connect your iPhone 4s to a computer with the latest version of iTunes installed.**
* Step 2: Put your iPhone 4s into recovery mode:
* Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously.
* Continue holding the buttons until the recovery mode screen appears (iTunes logo and charging cable).
* Step 3: **iTunes will automatically detect your iPhone 4s in recovery mode.** iTunes will prompt you with two options: Restore or Update.

Restore Your iPhone

NOTE: Restoring your iPhone will erase all data and settings.

* Step 1: Click the Restore button in iTunes.
* Step 2: iTunes will download the latest iOS software for your iPhone 4s.
* Step 3: iTunes will restore your iPhone 4s to factory settings. This process may take several minutes.

Update Your iPhone

NOTE: Updating your iPhone will not erase any data or settings. However, it is recommended to back up your iPhone before updating.

* Step 1: Click the Update button in iTunes.
* Step 2: iTunes will download the latest iOS software for your iPhone 4s.
* Step 3: iTunes will update your iPhone 4s to the latest iOS version. This process may take several minutes.

**Once the restore or update process is complete, your iPhone 4s will exit recovery mode and restart.**

To get out of recovery mode, make sure your USB cable is connected to both the laptop running iTunes and your device.You may need to hold the home button while connecting your USB cable as above. Now hold the home and sleep/wake buttons together until you see the Apple logo appear.read more >>
