As a first aid expert, I would advise the following steps if you encounter someone who is
unresponsive and not breathing:
1.
Ensure your own safety and the safety of the person in need.
2.
Check for responsiveness by tapping the person's shoulder and asking loudly, "Are you okay?"
3. If there is no response,
call emergency services immediately or ask someone nearby to do so.
4.
Tilt the person's head back and check for normal breathing. Look for chest movements, listen for breath sounds, and feel for breath on your cheek.
5. If the person is not breathing or has irregular, gasping breaths, begin
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation):
- Place the heel of one hand in the
middle of the chest.
- Place your other hand on top and interlock your fingers.
- Push
firmly downwards in a straight motion and then release, allowing the chest to rise again.
-
Push at a regular rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute.
6.
Continue CPR until the person starts breathing normally, emergency medical help arrives, or you are too exhausted to continue.
Remember, it's crucial to act quickly in such situations as the person may be suffering from a life-threatening condition.
